Privacy Policy
Effective September 23, 2026
musicly.life is operated by Valley Compounds LLC. Contact us at support@musicly.life. musicly is used by children, so we collect as little as possible and only a parent or guardian can create an account.
The short version
- Microphone sound is analyzed on your device. It is never recorded or uploaded.
- A child's profile is just a nickname and an avatar. Children never have an email address or password.
- No ads, and no third-party trackers or analytics in the app.
- You can delete your account and all of your family's data anytime — which also cancels billing.
Who creates accounts
Only adults (18+) can sign up. The parent or guardian creates the family account and then adds a profile for each child. Children never enter an email address or password. If you think a child has created an account on their own, email us and we'll delete it.
What we collect
- From the parent: name, email address, a password (stored only as a secure hash), your time zone (so daily limits and weekly reports follow your day), and the date you accepted these terms. If you choose "Continue with Google", Google shares your name, email address and Google account ID with us — nothing else.
- For each child profile: a first name or nickname and an emoji avatar chosen by the parent. We don't ask for a child's birthday, email, photo, school or location.
- Practice activity: songs played, scores, practice time, streaks, badges and tier progress — so kids can see their progress and parents can see the dashboard.
- Product usage: simple events such as "signed up", "played a first song" or "mic setup worked", plus technical error reports (what broke, not who you are), so we can see what's working and fix what isn't. They're stored in our own database — we don't use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.
- How you found us: if a grown-up arrives from an ad or a link, we note the campaign tags in that link (such as utm_source or an ad click ID) and the referring website's name. It's saved once with the new account so we know which ads are worth paying for. It's stored in our own database and never shared with ad networks.
- Billing: your plan and its status (see Payments below).
The microphone
musicly listens through your device's microphone only while a song or exercise is running. Sound is analyzed inside your browser to detect which notes are played. Audio is never recorded, stored, or sent to our servers or anyone else. Your mic settings are saved only on your device.
How we use information
- To run the app: scoring, progress, unlocking levels, and the parent dashboard.
- To manage your subscription and send the emails described below.
- To keep the service secure and fix problems.
We do notshow ads, sell or rent personal information, use children's information for marketing, or share it with other families (leaderboards only show players on your own family account).
Emails we send
- Account emails: a link to verify your email address, and password-reset links when you ask for one.
- A welcome email when you sign up, and billing messages about your plan.
- An optional weekly practice report for the parent. Every report has a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can also turn it off on the parent page.
We never send emails to children and never sell or share your email address.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that help us run musicly, under contract and for that purpose only: our hosting and database provider (Railway), our payment processor (Stripe), our email provider (Resend) and, only if you choose Google sign-in, Google. We may disclose information if required by law.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. We receive your subscription status and a customer ID; we never see or store your card number.
The video on our home page
Our home page may show a short video hosted on YouTube. It loads from YouTube's privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie.com) player only after you press play — nothing is requested from YouTube before that, and there are no videos inside the app your children use.
Cookies and storage
We use one sign-in session cookie, and your browser's local storage for device settings such as your microphone setup (and, if you came from an ad or link, its campaign tags until you sign up). No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Parents' rights
- Review or change your child's profile any time in Manage players.
- Delete a child's profile and all of their practice history in Manage players.
- Delete your whole account and all data anytime in Account → Delete account. This also cancels billing.
- Or email support@musicly.life and we'll do it for you.
Retention and security
We keep account and practice data while your account is open. When you delete a child's profile or your account, that data is deleted immediately; copies in our encrypted backups roll off within 30 days. Passwords are hashed, all traffic is encrypted (HTTPS), and access to the database is restricted.
